Alpine Geotechnical was founded in January 2015 to provide Geotechnical Engineering, Consulting and Construction Materials Engineering and Testing Services. Our goal is to provide sound Geotechnical recommendations and follow-up site observations with accurate test results that will help build The Foundation of a Successful Project. Kagan M. Rutz, P.E. is the owner and Senior Engineer, and has been practicing in this profession since 2002, and full-time in the Flathead Valley since 2006.

Alpine Geotechnical acquired all the laboratory testing equipment from the Kalispell office of Terracon Consultants, Inc. where Mr. Rutz served as branch manager for the prior 4 years. Terracon purchased NTL Engineering & Geoscience in 2008, and Mr. Rutz was employed by NTL prior to the Terracon acquisition.  NTL established a satellite office in the Flathead Valley in 1994. Alpine Geotechnical currently employs one registered Professional Engineer, a Staff Geological Engineer, a Geoscientist, three Engineering Technicians, a driller/operator and an Office Manager.
